Description
Volume 3 focuses on the relationship between and integration of health psychology and public health theories, concepts, and methods. The volume emphasizes that integrative work in these areas can help practitioners, researchers, scholars, and policy advocates advance further in their goals in both fields. Health psychology and public health share an interest in health promotion, disease prevention, the social determinants of health, and health equity; a view that considers biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors; a focus on marginalized populations; and an emphasis on the use of research and evidence-based practice to inform intervention and policy. While health psychology interventions typically target individual-level behavior change, the chapters in this volumefocus on improving population-based health as well as individual health and well-being. The volume discusses foundational theoretical concepts and frameworks; underrepresented populations and settings for interventions; preventative interventions at the population level; and emerging issues such as climate change, immigration and health, precision medicine, and vaccine hesitancy.Typham this is the title: APA Handbook of Health Psychology, Volume 3 Health Psychology and Public Health
